Hello All

I'm not a frequent forum user but I have always found your advise sound and true. I have just spoken to my rheumy nurse, as my joints have flared and I feel really tired and wretched again
Story in bullet points
1 Dec 09 started Humira fortnightly MTX 15mg
2 Feb 10 Humira gave me back my life down to 3 mg Pred
3 end of May noticed Humira running out day 8 back up to 10mg pred
4 1st week of June Rheumy prescibed Humira weekly and go down weekly by 1mg on the pred
5 Felt fantastic again down to 3mg pred weekly Humira
6 Went on holiday to Caribbean (well I am travelgirl) another story how to take Humira and drugs with you)
7 Caught a bug at the end of first week dreadful runs but not sick it seemed to clear up then 2 days later of we went again.
8 Middle of second week cleared up felt better enjoyed the rest of our holiday.
9 we came back 25th July and since the 28th my joints have strted to ache and swell my feet dont even go down overnight, my wrist fingers and shoulders are joining in I think I'm having a proper 'Flare'
10 last week rheumy nurse said go back up to 10mg pred keep on weekly Humira and MTX take my anti inflams 75mg 2 a day slow release, I am also using 75mg Fentynal patches (not strong enough) so topping up with remedeine and oramorph so I also feel like a zombie.
11 I have again spoken to Rheumy nurse and she is going to speak to her husband The Rheumy. Hopefully they will come up with a plan, my next appointment is 1st Sept. By the way I had bloods done last week and the CRP was normal, so why are my joints feeling so bad.

I hope this hasn't made you all go to sleep but if anyone has any advise please impart it. I feel so frustrated I felt so good Humira changed my life 6 months ago and now I feel that I am going backwards again.

Thanks for reading this. It's made me feel better writing it. May your God bless you Tricia

Tricia

Poor you - you have been through the mill. I am sorry that the Humira is not working so effectively. I have just started on Humira after failing on Enbrel. I have also just had a real bad flare and, like you, my CRP results were not bad when I had a blood test last week. My GP says they really do not take much notice of blood test results when looking at inflammation. It is how the patient feels that is the best indicator. I cannot offer any advice to you on how you should proceed but just wanted to offer my solidarity in how you feel.

Keep posting as talking to people who know how you feel is half the battle.

Take care

Jackie

Hi Tricia,

Sorry to hear things are so bad for you at the moment.
I take my humira every 12 days and this has been better than every 14 days but I do still get flares.
It could be that when the flare has gone you will be back to the humira working well, but there is also a chance it may be losing its effect. It's hard to tell what is happening till the flare settles down.
Hope you start to feel better soon.

Love, Doreen xx

Hello Tricia,

So sorry that you have not seen the benefit of your lovely holiday . You poor thing you sound very down and rightly
so. I cannot offer any advice on the drugs you on at the mo. Your Spec and Rhummy nurse sound though that they
are all on the ball. Hopefully the flare will soon subside and you will be planning your next break.

Keep posting

Hi ladies

Thank you,
you are all right you know these flares come and go, from feeling wretched at the beginning of the week hardly able to keep my eyes open in a meeting (how embarassing is that!!) I'm sure I snored and tht's what woke me.

I did my weekly Humira jab last evening and it felt different.

if you use them you know they hurt like b******y now last night it hurt and this morning I have my normal bee sting reaction, and my jouints are feeling so much better.

last week when I had the jab I didn't feel it and I didn't get a reaction. When we were on holiday I had a blow out I'm not siure if the neeedle went in far enough so I had liquid on top of my leg.

SO........ has it been I haven't had the full dose of humira for a couple of weeks. So Monday I'm going to start going down the steroids again. we will see what happens. As i read from wynn she has never been able to drop the pred completly so I should not feel so sorry for my self.

So ladies Thank you again for the support and I will write a tale of the drug running to the foreign!!LOL

May your God bless you

Tricia

Hi Tricia,

Good to hear you are starting to feel better.
I would be interested to hear of your experience of travelling with humira.
